Our vision is to renew the nation's economy through solar energy. Our mission is to get Americans back to work. Renew the Nation is our effort to make this happen.

Renew the Nation unites a broad alliance of public and private sector interests focused on workforce development, technical training, job creation, consumer adoption and economic growth through solar energy. From local and state governments to builders and manufacturers, our mission is to unify stakeholders with an interest in accelerating the U.S. solar economy.

Skilled labor is an essential component of this strategy. One of the initiatives of Renew the Nation is to develop the workforce required to advance the solar economy. We estimate 70% of jobs created through solar energy are in Construction and the Trades. This creates a tremendous opportunity for underemployed Americans to learn new skills or transfer existing experience to fill solar installation jobs.

The installation of solar systems is a cross-discipline. Photovoltaic and thermal systems require knowledge of roofing, electrical, plumbing and heating. Working with non-profits and government interests, we recently started launching what we call 'Renew Schools'. A Renew School is a technical training academy that offers a federally and state funded curriculum to train unemployed workers how to install solar photovoltaic (systems that generate electricity) and solar thermal (systems that heat water). After a student graduates, our goal is to place them in the supply chain, once again connecting all aspects of the value chain and moving forward with market transformation.
